Frequently Asked Questions about Log Book servicing

To help you understand Log Book servicing and learn more about Blackwood Dyno Tune & Service in Blackwood, please read the questions and answers below:

What is a Log Book Service?

A log book service is a service that is set out by the manufacturer to detail the correct service requirements at specified intervals. At Blackwood Dyno Tune & Service, we follow the guides set by each manufacturer, plus make recommendations on repairs that are outside the scope of a normal log book service.

Why do I need a log book service?

A log book service is important because it follows the guidelines set by the manufacturer. If your car is still covered under statutory warranty, it is essential that your car is serviced in line with the schedule and specifications in the owner's manual or warranty log book.

What happens if I miss a Service?

If you miss a service, it can potentially be detrimental to the health of the vehicle. If you notice you’re overdue, call us as soon as possible to book in!

Do you have Loan cars and how much do they cost?

Yes, there are several loan cars available (bookings essential)! We offer a station wagon for Tradies, perfect for keeping lots of tools, plus it can be handy when travelling with pets. We also offer 2 new Kia Rio hatchbacks, if the larger station wagon is not for you. All loan cars are $30 per day and include fuel, so you don’t have to worry about filling the tank before returning it to the workshop!

Will I lose my New Car Warranty if I don't go back to the dealer?

Absolutely not! We can help you maintain your manufacturers new car warranty by using genuine parts or OE (original equipment) equivalent suppliers, like Ryco premium filters and Penrite premium oil products and fluids. Blackwood Dyno Tune & Service are a RAA Approved Repairer and offer new car servicing for all vehicles. We have more information on this for you in our article. Please click here.

I have lost my Log Book, do I need it?

We can still service your car without a log book. A log book is a valuable asset, as it is a reference for yourself and your automotive technicians to see when you have serviced your car and when you need to service it next. It also provides you with information about your vehicle and what things need inspecting or changing at each service. If you’ve lost yours, we can provide you with a Repco Authorised Service Log Book for a small cost.

Do you provide Digital reports for the work you have done? or a digital report of what's wrong with my car?

Yes! During your service, the technicians at Blackwood Dyno Tune & Service complete digital inspections using Smart Inspector on their workshop tablets, taking photos and making notes of what work needs to be done! This report is sent to your phone via the phone number you provide us, so you can see the report details along with pictures in the comfort of your own home or while you’re at work! We can also provide details of all the work completed and what else is recommended on the invoice via an email at the end of the day for you to look back on.

How long will the service take?

We like to keep the vehicle for the entire day if possible, so our technicians can undertake a thorough inspection and go ahead with any repairs you request. Every service time will depend on each vehicle, of course, but we aim to have it done as quickly as possible, so you aren’t without your car for long!

How much will my service cost?

Service prices vary for each vehicle type, starting from $275. When you call us have your registration details handy, then we can provide you with a more accurate quote for a service for your vehicle.

How can I pay for my Service?

Our customers can make payment over the phone for after-hours pick up, and in store we accept cash, EFTPOS, Mastercard, Visa Card and AMEX with zero fees!

When are you Open?

We are open 8am until 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Are you open weekends?

As we are a very family-oriented business and pride ourselves on providing a good work-life balance for our team, our workshop is not open weekends. For your convenience we do have loan cars available (bookings essential) plus we can pick* your car up from your home and deliver it back when complete. (*Within our local area).

What is the earliest time I can bring my car in?

We open at 8am! If 8am is still too late for you, as you have work or other commitments, we have a safe key drop off that you can put your keys into and leave the vehicle out the front for us. If this doesn’t work for you and you would prefer to talk to someone, you are able to drop it off before 5pm the day before your service day!

Can I drop off my car after hours?

Will you give me reminders when my next sercive is due?

Yes! We send text message reminders and letters! Plus we attach a service sticker to the top right hand corner of your windscreen advising next service due. We will let you know if your next service is coming up shortly, or if you have missed one.

Can my car be repaired at the same time it is serviced?

Absolutely! Our friendly service advisor will give you a call after the inspection of the car to let you know what repairs are needed. Then you can decide how you would like to proceed!

How do I book in a Service?

You can call us to speak to our service team, otherwise you can make a booking request online by following the prompts on our website! Once your request has been submitted, one of our lovely service advisors will contact you regarding the booking to confirm.

How often should I really service my car?

5,000kms or every 6 months is ideal, however we’ve noticed that manufacturers stretch some service intervals to 15,000km. We believe that the engine should be serviced at least once a year if you do low kilometres. If your car is still covered by the manufacturers new car warranty, you should not exceed their recommended service intervals. Severe stop-start conditions, which is what many of us do – driving to work, quick trips to the shops – negatively affect the vehicle especially compared to long highway driving.

I don't drive much, do I still need a service?

Yes, definitely! Oil degrades over time, especially when it’s sitting there in the vehicle for an extended period. If you cannot provide a complete service, it is highly recommended that you change the oil and oil filter on a 6-month basis. We can do a simple oil and filter change too!

Can you fix other things while my car is being serviced?

Yes! During the service, we complete a comprehensive vehicle inspection, which goes through all parts of the vehicle. If there is something that one of the technicians notices during the service, we will contact you with quotes to see if you would like to go ahead to fix it. If there is something you are aware of that you would like inspected or fixed, please let us know when you make your booking or at the time you drop off your car so that we can help!

Can you wash my car?

Yes! We have a hand car wash station attached to our Blackwood Service Centre. Every service receives a courtesy wash and front cabin vacuum as confirmed by you!

What type of oils and parts do you use?

At Blackwood Dyno Tune & Service we use premium Ryco products, including their oil filters which is included in every service. We also use Penrite premium products for all our oil and fluid needs! We choose Ryco and Penrite because their products either meet or exceed manufacturers specifications.

Do you check my brakes during a service?

At Blackwood Dyno Tune & Service we have the latest Safe-T-Stop brake testing equipment that we use on every single service. The test looks at the brakes and how fast your car can come to a stop, the wheel alignment of vehicle and even suspension!
