Here is a list of 10 differences in a 4WD Service

 A 4WD has more grease points than a smaller vehicle, like a sedan.

Some 4WDs have undercar armour that needs to be removed and refitted when we do a service or repair.

Aftermarket 4WD accessories may need to be removed during service and repairs.

Inspections can take longer for a 4WD because they are generally bigger vehicles, there’s a larger area to inspect and more components to look at.

Removing wheels is a lot harder on a 4WD. Tyres are usually a lot bigger and heavier compared to a hatch or sedan.

4WDs can have dual fuel & oil filters which need to be changed during a service.

Some 4WDs have a dual battery set up, so both need to be tested and charged.

A lot of 4WDs have been raised (lift kit) – when new vehicles (to us) come into our Blackwood workshop we often find that time hasn’t been taken to inspect the brake proportioning from front to back. 

We have a Safe-T-Stop brake test machine we can use to check and adjust the brake proportioning, in accordance with South Australian Government vehicle specifications.
